Privacy Policy EazySend
EazySend is a cross-platform peer-to-peer file transfer application for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, Windows, Android, and Linux. This privacy policy explains what information the app handles and, more importantly, what it does not.
1. Information We Do Not Collect
We want to be unambiguous about this, because file transfer apps have historically been a source of privacy concerns. EazySend does not collect any of the following:
- Your name, email address, phone number, or any other contact information
- The content of any files you send or receive
- File names, file sizes, or metadata about your transfers
- The IP addresses of devices you communicate with
- Your device identifier, advertising identifier, or any other persistent ID
- Your location (coarse or fine)
- Your browsing history, app usage patterns, or any behavioral data
- Crash reports or diagnostic logs sent to any server
The app has no backend user database. There is nothing for you to sign up for, and nothing for us to leak.
2. How EazySend Works
EazySend transfers files directly between devices using two modes:
2.1 Local Mode (LAN, default)
When both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network, files are transferred
directly over the local network. No data passes through any server. The app
uses UDP multicast on group 224.0.0.167 port 23317 to
discover peer devices, and establishes a direct HTTPS connection over TLS for
the actual transfer. Everything stays on your LAN.
2.2 Relay Mode (cross-network)
When the two devices are on different networks, the transfer is routed through our relay servers. Relay servers only forward encrypted binary streams between the two endpoints; they do not decrypt, inspect, log, or store any content. The relay does not know the file names, file sizes, sender or receiver identity. Connection metadata is kept only in memory for the duration of the transfer and discarded when the connection closes. No transfer logs are written to disk or sent anywhere.
3. Permissions We Request
The app requests a small number of system permissions, each for a specific and obvious purpose:
- Local Network (iOS/macOS) — Required to discover nearby devices on the same Wi-Fi network. Without this, LAN mode cannot work.
- Photos Library (iOS) — Required only when you choose to send a photo or video, or when you receive a photo and the app saves it to the system Photos app. The app never reads photos in the background.
- Files / Storage (all platforms) — Required to read files you choose to send and to save files you receive.
- Notifications (optional) — Used only to tell you that a transfer has completed or that someone wants to send you files.
No permission is used for any purpose other than the one stated above.
4. Data Retention
Since we do not collect any data, there is nothing to retain. Files you receive are stored in the normal system locations on your own device (iOS Photos library for images and videos, app Documents folder for other files; Downloads or user-selected folder on desktop platforms). You control them entirely.
5. Third-Party Services
EazySend does not embed any third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or tracking SDK. The app does not communicate with any third-party service for any purpose. The relay servers are operated by the EazySend project itself and are the only network endpoints the app ever connects to (apart from the peer device you are transferring with).
6. Children's Privacy
EazySend does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The app is suitable for all ages.
7. Security
All transfers are encrypted in transit using TLS 1.2 or higher. On the local network, each device generates its own ECDSA P-256 self-signed certificate at first launch; the certificate never leaves the device. In relay mode, the stream is end-to-end encrypted between the two devices and the relay server cannot decrypt it.
8. Changes to This Policy
If we ever update this policy, the new version will be published at the same URL with an updated "Last Updated" date. Since the app collects no data, there is very little that could change, but any modification will be clearly visible here.
9. Contact
If you have any questions about this policy or about how EazySend handles data, please contact: zhushaolong@gmail.com
